Ian Smith has won this very first award due to his work in Pulsed Power. He was handed the award personally by President Putin in St. Petersburg, Russia just last week (15Jun03, see photo below). The Global Energy Award was recently created to honor achievements in the energy field that the Nobel Prize does not cover. He told us that he received a gold medal and a $300,000.00 check. The Global Energy International Prize is a new scientific award for outstanding theoretical, experimental and applied research, development, inventions and discoveries in the field of energy development and power generation. |
Ian now works at Titan, PSD in San Leandro, California (near San Francisco). He once worked for the legendary Charlie Martin (JCM) in England before coming to the US and designing some of the biggest pulsed power machines ever (such as Aurora). | |
